As usual when you start to play eve, 10-20 years corporations gives you a fork: or you joining to them, or they make you quit the game. The KGB itself would envy the espionage in EVE and its operations. How can you create useful guides for your corporation in such an environment if your internal spies will read what you write before your fellow corp members?
Preparation Material
In 2019, I was doing a routine wormhole scan on a T1 frigate. Warp core stabilizers hadn’t been fixed yet; they were passive and you could have multiple of them. If you placed three warp core stabilizers on Probe or Heron, it meant you could only be caught with two faction scramblers in the wormhole with loot.
This allows not die as alpha and the ability to take out 800kk per night, which at the time was equivalent to half an omega—250 plexes. In other words, in 2019, you could scan yourself for an omega this way in 2-3 days. At one point I let it slip in the chat that I was either scanning or had failed in the WH, and after that, for a whole week I couldn’t find any relics at all, due to the increased competition.
And after writing the guide with this fit with warpstabs, they were completely fixed, so that now you can only install one module and it is an active one for 2026, and also after that there were several iterations of fixes with a decrease in profitability of makin isks from relics sites in wh.
Main article
In short, the point I’m making is that 70% of my experience with EVE has been nerfing ways to quickly get rich with ISK during alpha or as one account. I won’t list everything that has been nerfed since I started playing, because there were also positive things that made life easier.
I wanted to use an example to illustrate the damage of publicly writing about any imbalance things in EVE. First, other players will abuse it, ruining earnings for everyone especially for you, and then it will be nerfed so nobody will make money that way anymore. But how to write a guide for your corpmates that won’t be understood by spies?
Delay in publication
The simplest, laziest, and most effective way is a six-month delay. If you don’t publish something immediately, but only after six months:
- You have six months to use knowledge.
- You’re forcing spies to use outdated information, which may also turn out to be unreliable. But you’ll know about it in six months, while the spies will have six months of adventure ahead of them. What if this information is harmful or destructive? And the spy will take it to their corporation or alliance.
Example with Sunesis
Here I need an example with Sunesis, which transported tens of billions isks to me during the alpha until the knowledge became public and Sunesis was nerfed to 3 seconds of warp time in 2026. How you can write a guide for Sunesis for your corporation right now without it getting nerfed and without spies understanding what its all about? You can break the information into several articles on the following topics:
1. Jovians ships (SoCT) – their pros and cons.
2. Hauling guide – transporting expensive and light items with something fast, etc.
3. Ganking guide – How ganking works – how they scan ships at the gate.
If a corp member reads into it, sooner or later they’ll come to the conclusion that tens of billions isks in modules or Abbys Loot would have been better hauling on Sunesis, because he had a 2-second warp until 2026. And for a spy who went into the corps and copied everything, these are just guides on Jovi ships, hauling, and ganking. Which might also turn out to be poisonous information.
All of this has been tested in practice—I recommend it; it works.
The only thing is that such guides cannot be written publicly; they should damage spies, their corporations and alliances, and not simple EVE players. Another longer option is to study cryptography. Because every environment requires appropriate clothing.
Hope this guide will helps you to survive, grow and destroy this grave robbing bastards! o7
