Biomes (Swamp) | Don’t Starve

Posted on August 6, 2026 by admin

Don’t Starve Walkthrough → Biomes (Swamp)

The spiders that live here will readily fight the swamp tentacles (though in most cases, they lose). The swamp is often adjacent to a forest. Merms, spiders, and tentacles often fight; after battles, it’s advisable to collect the loot, especially tentacle spikes. A strange potato or strange lever can often be found here.

Structures:

A reed field is a large area overgrown with reeds. It usually contains a large number of tentacles. It’s a good place to kill bosses.

Rotten Trap – not necessarily located in  the swamp , but close to it. Opening it will spoil all your food. Inside you’ll find plans for a cauldron and some other items.

Underground Swamp

This is an underground version of the swamp. There are few ordinary tentacles here, mostly giant ones. A huge number of light flowers. Sometimes spilagmites are present.

Sunken Swamp: A biome

Virtually identical to the surface swamp. It has many tentacles (but lacks giant tentacles), and may contain cocoons and reeds. Sunken swamps do not necessarily need to be located near underground swamps. There are no merms or ponds.

The swamp in the Shipwrecked

Frogs and mosquitoes no longer spawn from the ponds, but you may stumble upon a poisonous geyser, which is best dug up for its  poison gland. Merm settlements pose the main danger, but even among them, you can find a friendly merm fisherman who can be used to steal his entire catch. Green mushrooms are common.
