Bugs and Infestation | RimWorld

Posted on September 21, 2026 by alienshooter

When you mine deep into the mountains or live in a caves, there is a change to summon Infestation to your colony. In RimWorld, more value colony have – more harder raids and events AI storyteller will send to you. Because of balance in universe, etc.. You can see it by graph:

There is two ways deal with that disaster:

  1. Clean infestation – preparing to the next event.
  2. Live with it – kill all bugs but keep hives alive.

If im not wrong, there is a way cheat this situation with AI. Storyteller will send to you easy raids or even good events, because you already have an infestation. So you can loot insect jelly from time to time, and no worried of been attacked while living with this disaster at base. Its possible to do with any another negative event as well.

But remember, if you choose cheat way, it must be nice controled! More times goes – more bugs spawning, and there will be a moment, when better to start live in new place, than clean infestation with endless bugs!

Infestation Stats

Giant insects are tunneling towards you! They will break through in a few seconds and plant hives. The hives will spawn more insects and more hives. If you don’t want the insects to infest the whole area, destroy the hives. But beware – the bugs will defend their home.
