Metro 2033: Walkthrough  → Biomass

We descended into the very bowels of the ancient citadel, and I was overcome with chills. We were one step away from possessing the most powerful weapon left on earth… Did we have the right to use it?

At the bottom, we’ll put on a gas mask and continue on through the amoebas crawling everywhere, eager to kill us. When we reach the stairs, we’ll climb up and find ourselves at the reactor control panel. We try to start it, and we succeed. However, it’s only producing a quarter of its power.

To restart the reactor at full power, we need to remove the rods held by some enormous creature.

To retrieve the rods, you’ll need to use a crane with hydraulic manipulators. To do this, you’ll need to run past this huge creature to the other side. But there’s nothing else to do; we need to keep going. Open the door and run to the crane. Once inside, using the manipulators, we’ll take out the three rods one by one, ripping apart the biomass’s limbs.

Once all four rods are removed, the reactor will be fully operational. This will be enough to launch the missiles. Take the elevator up to the train. It should all be over soon. And first, Separation.
