Traits | Project Zomboid

You can select traits during creating new character, at the start of each game. In total to you will be given 8 points and each trait have a different cost, positive one – taking points, and negative ones – giving them.

Positive

-1

Speed Demon – drives very fast.

-2

Artisan – better at pottery and glass crafts.

  • +1 Glassmaking
  • +1 Pottery

Dextrous – Transfers inventory items quickly. Faster rope climbing speed, and less chance of falling. Faster weapon shouldering time.

Fast Reader – Takes less time to read books.

First Aider – +1 First Aid.

Gardener – +1 Agriculture.

Inventive – Has lower skill level requirements to research recipes from items or auto learn recipes.

Iron Gut – Less chance to have food illness.

Light Eater – needs to eat less regularly.

Low Thirst – needs less water to survive.

Mason – Better at building stone and brick constructions.

  • +2 Masonry

Nutritionist – can see the nutritional values of any food.

Outdoorsy – less affected by harsh weather conditions.

Whittler – can carve wood and bone items.

  • +2 Carving

Cat’s Eyes – better vision at night.

Crafty – Increased XP gains for Crafting skills.

Vehicle Knowledge – Has knowledge of common and commercial vehicle models, and repairs.

  • +1 Mechanics

Wakeful – needs less sleep.

Adrenaline junkie – moves faster when highly panicked.

Angler – +1 Fishing.

Baseball Player – +1 Long Blunt.

Brave – less prone to becoming panicked.

Eagle Eyed – Faster visibility fade. Higher visibility arc. Weapon sights more effective at long range.

Graceful – makes less noise when moving.

Hearbalist – Can find medicinal herbs and craft medicines and poultices from them.

  • +1 Foraging

Inconspicuous – less likely to be spotted by zombies.

Organized – increased container inventory capacity.

Resilient – Less prone to disease. Slower rate of zombification.

Runner – +1 Running.

Sewer – +1 Tailoring.

Tinkerer – +1 Maintenance.

Gymnast – +1 Lightfooted, +1 Nimble.

Hiker – +1 Foraging, +1 Trapping.

Target Shooter – +1 Aiming.

Blacksmith Knowledge – Can use an anvil to create metal items.

  • +2 Blacksmithing
  • +1 Maintenance

Brawler – +1 Axe, +1 Long Blunt.

Fast Healer – Recovers quickly from injuries and illness.

Fast Learner – increases XP gains.

Fit – +2 Fitness.

Former Scout – Start fires faster.

  • +1 First Aid
  • +1 Fishing
  • +1 Foraging

Keen Hearing – larger perception radius.

Stout – Extra knockback from melee weapons. Increased carrying weight.

  • +2 Strength

Bushcrafter – Can find medicinal herbs and craft medicines and poultices from them, and make simple stone and bone tools. Start fires faster.

Handy – Faster and stronger constructions.

  • +1 Carving
  • +1 Maintenance
  • +1 Masonry

Hunter

  • +1 Aiming
  • +1 Butchering
  • +1 Short Blade
  • +1 Sneaking
  • +1 Tracking

Athletic – Faster running speed. Can run for longer without tiring.

  • +4 Fitness

Strong – Extra knockback from melee weapons. Increased carrying weight.

Sunday Driver – drives very slow.

All Thumbs – transfers inventory items slowly. Can’t craft anything while walking. Slower rope climbing speed, and higher chance of falling. Slower weapon shouldering time.

Clumsy – Makes more noise when moving.

Cowardly – Especially prone to becoming panicked.

Fast Metabolism – Permanent tendency to lose weight. Starts with Low Weight trait.

High Thirst – needs more water to survive.

Short Sighted – Smaller view distance. Slower visibility fade. Weapon sights less effective.

Slow Metabolism – Permanent tendency to gain weight. Starts with High Weight trait.

Slow Reader – Takes longer to read books and other literature.

Weak Stomach – Higher chance to have food illness.

Slow Healer – Recovers slowly from injuries and illness.

Smoker – Unhappiness rises when tobacco is not smoked. Stress and unhappiness decrease after smoking tobacco.

Agoraphobic – Gets panicked when outdoors.

Claustrophobic – Gets panicked when in small indoor rooms.

Conspicuous – More likely to be spotted by zombies.

Hard of Hearing – Smaller perception radius. Smaller hearing range.

Hearty Appetite – needs to eat more regularly.

Prone to Illness – More prone to disease. Faster rate of zombification.

Sleepyhead – needs more sleep.

Fear of Blood – Panic when performing first aid on self. Cannot perform first aid on others. Gets stressed when bloody.

Reluctant Fighter – decreases combat XP gains.

Short of Breath – faster endurance loss.

Disorganized – Decreased container inventory capacity. Affects world containers and bags, but not your main inventory.

Out of Shape – Low endurance, low endurance regeneration.

  • -2 Fitness

Restless Sleeper – slow loss of tiredness while sleeping.

Slow Learner – decreased xp gains.

Weak – Less knockback from melee weapons. Decreased carrying weight.

  • -2 Strength

Thin-skinned – Higher chance of being scratched or bitten by zombies.

+10

Illiterate – cannot read any books or in-world text.

Puny – Far less knockback from melee weapons. Extremely small carrying weight.

  • -5 Strength

Unfit – Very low endurance and endurance regeneration.

  • -4 Fitness

Deaf – can’t hear sound.
