Don’t Starve Walkthrough → Big tentacle
The Big Tentacle, formerly known as the Tentacle, is a boss added in the It’s Not a Rock update. Upon taking damage, it spawns several smaller tentacles that can be killed with a single spear strike.
The Big Tentacle makes Tentacle Spikes, Tentacle Pieces, and Marsh Turf renewable, so the developers set a timer where good loot can only drop from the Big Tentacle once a day, and after that, it drops “bad” loot. This timer applies to all tentacles.

- Light bulb (80%),
- Tentacle spines (50%),
- A piece of tentacle (40%),
- Marsh turf (25%),
- Skeleton (10%),
